Prompt word is Crumb
Black Angels is one of the most amazing pieces of music I have ever heard. The Kronos Quartet 1990 recording of it is amazing. It is 13 movements, in 3 sections, and anti-war music. George Crumb wrote the piece in 1970. When I finally experienced the piece live in 2003, it didn’t have the same drama somehow, it came off to me as humor and that was not intended, I am sure of that. My one gripe with George Crumb is this, it seems to me that his style hasn’t changed since the 1970’s; maybe I am wrong. I did meet him once and he was kind, matter-of-fact, and real as a human being. AND his scores are beautiful, and he did push the envelope at least at one time.
For myself as a composer, I want to change, I want to become different in 10 years time, 20 years, 30, etc.
